Our journey began with borrowed spaces and borrowed time. TAISM and ABA opened their doors, giving us the chance to gather young musicians for the very first rehearsal. Students discovering ensemble playing, teachers shaping the sound, and parents witnessing the spark of something new. Those first rehearsals marked the birth of El Sistema Oman: proof that with vision and community support, music can take root anywhere.
It was deeply meaningful for us as well along with the teaching artists who had just embarked on this new chapter. After nearly nine months of preparation and the significant move from the United States to Oman, this rehearsal was more than a beginning; it was the realization of a dream. The El Sistema Oman Youth Orchestra was no longer just an idea, it had found its voice, and with it, a new community of young musicians ready to grow together.
