Recognition often comes quietly, but it carries great meaning. This year, El Sistema Oman youth orchestra was highlighted in Ensemble News, marking an important milestone in our journey. The article introduced our program to an international audience, describing how a new youth orchestra in Muscat is completing its pilot year.
It noted our partnerships with The American International School of Muscat and ABA Oman International School, where rehearsals and ensemble development take place. It also emphasized the role of trained Omani teaching artists, who lead the classes and guide our students with dedication and care.
As of today, El Sistema Oman serves about 40 children from Grades 2 through 8, representing both local and international backgrounds. For many of them, this is their first experience with strings/orchestral music, and their progress has been inspiring.
Being mentioned in Ensemble News was more than a line in a publication. It was a sign that our work is resonating beyond Oman, connecting us to a global community of music educators and programs. It reminded us that while our roots are local, our vision is shared worldwide: to use music as a tool for growth, collaboration, and hope.
